Manchu to Mao Fashion Contest

CHINESE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF CHICAGO - RAYMOND B. & JEAN T. LEE CENTER

Invites High School and College students to participate in a Manchu to Mao Fashion Contest based on the What We Wore: Celebrating Chinese Fashion Heritage exhibition.

Contestants will be asked to pick a favorite garment on which to base their design.
Fabrics need not be the same. Costs will be the responsibility of the contestant but it is suggested not to exceed $100.

Garments will be judged by a panel on creativity, design, execution, resourcefulness and relevance.  Fabrics need not be the same. Elements of design can be embroidery, beading, fabric painting or appliqué.

You will be asked to keep a journal for this contest.  Garment can be modeled by designer or someone of his/her choosing.  Garments to be presented in April at a date to be selected.  Finalists will show at the May 19 Gala and receive their monetary prize.
