Concert Series Jan 2013

Join us for a delightful and informative monthly music series! Concerts and workshops are the second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. Charge is $12; members, students and seniors, $8;  entire series of twelve concerts: $88.

January 12––A New Centennial. Ring in the New Year and a New Chinatown Centennial with traditional Chinese music. 

February 9––Chinese New Year. Welcome the Lunar New Year with a bang, with traditional lion dance, the drums, the gongs and the cymbals.

March 9––Spring Forward. The trees are alive, with the sweet sound of music with the zheng and the pipa.

April 13––Strings Workshop. Hands on experience with different Chinese string instruments:   feel the music from the zheng, pipa, erhu, lute, and others. 

May 11––Mother’s Day/Asian Heritage Month.  Bring your Mom to the Museum to enjoy classical Chinese music and learn about the Chinese heritage. 

June 8––Dragon Boat Festival. Celebrate this patriotic festival with poems, drums, the woodwinds, the gongs and the cymbals.

July 13––Summer Fun. Enjoy the summer sun with an outdoor concert in Chinatown Square. 

August 10––Woodwinds Workshop. Practice with a bamboo flute and learn some easy Chinese melodies.

September 14––Mid Autumn Festival. Delight in the age old tradition and the origin of the Festival.

October 12––Fall Harvest. Reflect on the year’s hard work with soothing woodwinds and strings.

November 9––Strings Workshop Encore. Hands on experience with different Chinese string instruments:   feel the music from the zheng, pipa, erhu, lute, and others. 

December 14––Winter Solstice. Rejoice in the winter festivities.
