Kerry Leung

Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Chinese Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional holidays for the Chinese. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvest. Chinese families and friends gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos together. There are many versions of the story of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess, and her flight to the moon.

Come and celebrate the Moon Festival with us with beautiful music from traditional Chinese instruments such as pipa, erhu, guzheng, flutes and hulusi. Kerry Leung will perform selections honoring the moon, including Moonlight Over the Spring River, Moon on the Han Dynasty, and Moon over the Calm West Lake.

Kerry Leung is a Chinese multi-instrumentalist. He began his music studies at the age of 12 in Guangzhou, China. In the United States, he played the pipa and bamboo flute in Yellow River concerto with the Peoria Symphony and performed with the Silk and Bamboo Ensemble at Ravinia.
